Founded in 1904 in Nagoya, Japan, Noritake began as an export business targeting the U.S. market. Capitalizing on America’s demand for luxury, the founders pioneered hand-painted, gold-detailed porcelain that immediately won over high society. This strategic pivot laid the cornerstone for the iconic global brand known today.
In the early 1920s, Noritake introduced assembly-line technology that enabled mass production without compromising quality. Over the following decade, Noritake continued to refine its manufacturing capabilities while expanding into the global market.

Noritake tableware porcelain is distinguished by its light, thin form, smooth glossy glaze, wide variety of types, diverse designs, distinctive style, and refinement down to the smallest detail. Every Noritake product – from tableware sets and cups to vases, keepsakes, and decorative pieces – reflects not only the artisan’s talent and refined aesthetic sensibility but, above all, the passion poured into the soul of the porcelain in pursuit of the pinnacle of perfection.
Today, Noritake stands as a global leader in porcelain, spanning over 100 countries across luxury hotels, fine-dining venues, and first-class airline cabins. Expanding beyond high-end homes into corporate spaces and premium gifting, the brand has spent over 120 years building an iconic international reputation.

Okura Art China was founded on May 15, 1919 by Okura Magobei and his son, Kazuchika, with the goal of “creating the finest ceramic products.” At the time of its founding, father and son were deeply troubled to learn that the Western-style tableware used at Imperial banquets and receptions for dignitaries was supplied entirely by foreign manufacturers. This realization led them to decide to produce high-end Western-style artisanal ceramics to meet demand within Japan.
At the same time, the Okura kiln also focused on creating Western-style tableware that resonated with Japanese daily life by incorporating Japanese aesthetic sensibilities into its designs — such as motifs of trees and flowers, and colors reflecting the distinct character of the four seasons.

To achieve the beauty of perfect white porcelain, Okura uses the finest kaolin as its raw material, combined with an unparalleled level of craftsmanship, firing each piece at an extremely high temperature of 1,460°C. Okura has also developed numerous techniques and cultivated a beauty entirely its own, in pursuit of Okura Magobei’s founding dream of “creating the most beautiful works of art.”
In Japan, the phrase “deep blue and Okura porcelain white” is used to describe products of the very highest quality. Okura Art China products are synonymous with history, elegance, and refinement. They are used by the Imperial Household, government guest houses hosting foreign VIPs, as well as first-class hotels and restaurants.
